AUDITIONS for “The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs”
SIGNUP: HERE!
Adapted by Robert Kauzlaric adapted from the book by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith
Directed by Mary Eliza Hendricks, Assistant Directed and Puppet Mastered by Annie Collins
About the Show:
The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs is a courtroom comedy about a smart talking reporter pig, a corrupt judge pig, a dazzling prosecutor pig, and a wolf accused of a terrifying crime against ham-anity. This show has everything- audience interaction, a mystery that must be solved, and… puppets! This pun-filled noir fairy tale-sequel may have you questioning… do YOU know the TRUE story of the 3 little pigs?
About the Roles:
There are 11 roles in this show, 10 pigs and 1 wolf. We very much encourage anyone of any race, gender, or ability to audition (as long as you are within the age requirement of 10y/o-18y/o). The characters themselves will not be puppets, but a pivotal scene in the show uses puppets to tell the story. A profile on each character will be at the end of this post.
About Auditions:
Free parking available; you can collect a pass upon arrival.
When: December 9 & 10, starting at 5pm. Call backs will be December 12 at 5pm

Parents/Guardians, you and your child will sign in with our Stage Manager. You'll fill out some paperwork with your conflicts and information, the auditioner will receive a number, and then the audition will begin. Audition duration varies from 60 to 90 minutes based on turnout.
A link to sign-up for an audition is at the end of this post. Contact Mary Eliza Hendricks at maryeliza@theatrecentre.com or call the Box Office at 423-267-8534 (M-F 10am – 2pm) for form issues or inquiries.
What to Prepare:
We will provide a piece of the script for the participant to audition with. We will perform some text, but we will also be moving around and playing some theatre games. So please be prepared to move!
Please bring all conflicts you may have within the rehearsal period. This information is crucial; we need to know about any even possible absences before casting. When listing conflicts, include sports, school activities, vacations, doctor appointments (avoiding orthodontist appointments during tech and show weeks is a good idea), birthdays, and other engagements. Please note mandatory rehearsal dates, including technical rehearsals, school performances, dress rehearsals, and show days.
Registered participants will receive any necessary updates 24 hours before the audition.
Callbacks?:
Callbacks, if needed, are scheduled for Thursday, December 12 at 5pm. They offer the director a chance to see more from certain actors. Not everyone will be called back, and you still may be cast if you are not called back. You also may not be cast if you are called back.
About Rehearsals:
Rehearsals may start as early as Monday, Dec 16, and are typically scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 5-7pm. A tentative rehearsal plan will be provided at auditions, but the final schedule depends on the cast’s availability. We will be taking the week of Dec 23- 27 and Dec 30-Jan 3 off for the Holidays. However, if absent, actors are responsible for catching up on missed information. This is why knowing any conflicts is important.
About Tech Rehearsals:
"Tech" involves both actors and backstage crew, making it essential for everyone to participate. Attendance at ALL technical (tech) rehearsals and scheduled performances is mandatory. With two casts, the performance schedule rotates, so ensure there are no conflicts with performances or tech week. Tech Week, when actors collaborate with the crew on technical aspects like sound, lights, costumes, and sets, begins on Sunday, February 16 from 1:30 to 5:30pm and continues Monday, Feb 17 through Thursday, Feb 20 from 4:30-7:30pm.
Shows are Feb 21, 22, 23, 28, Mar 1 and 2, with school matinees the week of February 24-28 (more info will be given at auditions. If the show is double cast, the performances will be split evenly between them).
And above everything else, auditions are to show a director what you, as a unique artist, can contribute to a production. I want to see your capabilities and strengths. Be yourself, and have fun.
