Our classes for young children build on their active imaginations while guiding them toward an understanding of what it takes to act in a play. This process has three steps: the use of body, voice and imagination; the development of characters; and the understanding of how stories go together.
Tuesdays, 4:45 PM to 5:45 PM
April 11 – May 16
Instructor: Chuck Tuttle & Melanie Spratt
Using theatre games and limited printed material, students will explore the use words and actions to express the characters and tell the story of the play.
Mondays, 5:00PM-6:30PM
April 10-May 15
Instructor: Mary Eliza Hendricks
Using the rehearsal process, students will work together to prepare a play for performance. They will learn the skills required to develop characters, build an ensemble, and engage the audience.

Considered by most theatre scholars as the best playwright in history, William Shakespeare’s plays have been produced continuously since their writing. This class will de-mystify Shakespeare’s language, explore his rich characters, and work with some of Shakespeare’s greatest plays.

Tennessee Williams was one America’s greatest playwrights. Though best known for his full length plays, he also wrote many wonderful short plays. This class will explore, rehearse, and perform plays from his canon of short works.
