Dickens’ A Christmas Carol and the Grand Illumination Celebration
|
|
Friday, November 28 - 6:00 p.m.
|
|
How better to banish the “Bah! Humbug!” of a day’s shopping than to mix a presentation
of A Christmas Carol with the excitement of Chattanooga’s Grand Illumination.
The curtain goes up earlier than usual at the CTC – 6:00 p.m. – so our audience
can enjoy the parade of lighted boats at 7:00 during intermission from the comfort
of the Theatre Centre patio that looks out on the Tennessee River. Following the
conclusion of the memorable second act of Christmas Carol, gather in the warmth
of the Theatre Centre lobby to enjoy holiday snacks and watch the fireworks finale
that concludes the Grand Illumination celebration across the River.
You don’t even have to worry about parking – parking is free in the adjoining lot
for theatre patrons.

Special Dedication
|
|
Friday, December 5 - 7:00 p.m.
|
|
As many of you know, Sonia Young (our beloved "Purple Lady") has been a tireless
supporter of our Chattanooga Theatre Centre for many years. In addition, 25 years
ago James K. Steakley (Kit Steakley's father) and Meyer Winer (Sonia Young's father)
were instrumental in founding what is today our Youth Theatre.
Because of the dedication of these individuals, and countless other supporters and
volunteers, we have one of the strongest and most vibrant youth theatres going.
So, on Friday, December 5 at 7:00 PM, we honor Sonia and Mel Young with the dedication
of the Sonia Young Rehearsal Studio while we also honor James K. Steakley and Meyer
Winer with the dedication of the James K. Steakley/Meyer Winer Youth Theatre.
Rehearsal Room One will now be the Sonioa Young Rehearsal Studio and a special alcove
in the Circle Lobby will honor James K. Steakly and Meyer Winer.
We're painting a special tree in that alcove where the "leaves" will represent individual
donations to the Youth Theatre.
Come witness this dedication and then stay for the opening night performance of
Disney's Alice In Wonderland, Jr. - the curtain is at 7:30 PM.
